Day 12 Final Presentations and Farewell Party

And here we are! The day of the presentation!

The morning was spent finalizing the presentations, printing, running around organizing, transporting, moving, setting up, rehearsing speeches, etc. Finally, everybody gathered in the Trappenzaal (in translation: the hall with/of steps) of the Architecture Building and Planning building for the last big event of the Elir workshop.

The presentations, 8 to be precise, went from more serious to funny and inventive demonstrations of media approach. We had small scenarios, some with one, some with two, even 6 speakers for a team. It made us realise how much one can discover and learn from this type of event. There are different approaches, cultures and visions over architecture. Creating one's style benefits greatly from repeated exposure to as many different approaches as possible. For that we are deeply grateful to all the teachers that have shared their knowledge.

After the presentations, everybody gathered around the exhibition presenting a glimpse of the resulted work.

The farewell party took place at the Usine restaurant in Eindhoven. They offered us a nice intimate atmosphere for our last evening together and of course good food.

People said their goodbye's, took pictures and enjoyed their time together.

Many, many thanks to:

Day 11 Workshop

Day 11 is still a work day, a full day of work, preparing everything needed: drawings, sketches, models, presentations, video's, speeches. Plenty of modeling work in the ABP TU/e workshop. New approaches, testing new techniques, materials and approaches.

The exhibition from the main public area of the Architecture Building and Planning building is waiting for the finished work and the add on models.

This was the last day of work. Next,  the final presentations. There were mixed feelings floating around. The presentation was the moment we have all been working for, but that meant the workshop came to an end. It meant all the guests would go home, that things would slow down again. It was beautiful, exciting and a bit sad.

Day 10 Workshop

The day of the deadline was rapidly approaching and so the next days are spent finishing the project details, making presentations, video's and utilizing any means of expression that would enhance the desired experience.

There are no special events happening this day, everybody was really focused on the team work and the requirements of the incoming presentations. The atmosphere was focused but relaxed in the same time. People were working hard and enjoying the beauty of the cultural interaction.

Day 9 Material Workshop - The Test

Tuesday, the day of the test. All the elements that were built the Thursday before were to be "destroyed" today in order to find out which project was the strongest and of course the winner.

The brick archways:

And part 2, the concrete bridges:

The day was way too exciting to be captured only with photos, so we have a couple of short videos to share the beautiful atmosphere of the day. All teams have worked hard and put a lot of effort in their projects. But there could be only two winners, one from the brick projects and one from the concrete projects.

The rest of the day was filled with design work for the presentations of the end of the week.
